OT - Anyone live in Indiana?

I am thinking of taking a job for Caterpillar at the LEC (Large Engine Center) In Lafayette Indiana and was wondering what it is like up there? I am down in sunny Florida and am contemplating the move.

Hi Tobin, I live in Illinois but work in Lafayette. Nice town, and with Purdue there, there are lots of things going on all the time. Nice small town attitude though. I am thinking about moving there once the kids are out on their own myself. Lots of industry and job opportunities. The huge Subaru plant is gearing up to build Toyota's and they are already doing some hiring for that. Never been in Catepillar, but I know guys that have worked there. There is a brand new mall just built next door to Cat. I really like the town, lots of shopping and it is clean. Real close to Indy also which is a plus. bOb

Thanks for the reply. Do you work on Saturdays or late nights? If I move up there, I would love to take a look at your shop and mabey learn how to really TIG weld.

I've been to Lafayette several time but never to Cat. The town is clean and nice. I'm a little South of there. I also work for one of Cats competition so I'm not a good judge on Cat.

We should be in the 30's this time of year and will be soon, we have been running way warmer than normal lately so get ready to be chilly.

Yes, we work saturdays...this time of year is our busy season. You are more than welcome to come visit the shop. If you decide to visit, pm me or e-mail me and we'll figure out a time. I usually work till noon on Saturdays and that would be a great time to show you the shop. It has been really unusually warm so far this year...kind of spooky. I think we're gonna get slammed with some cold before January is finished :( bOb

I live in Ohio and it is usally a few inches of snow and almost in the low 10's, but it is in the 50's 60's and raining.

I am in the south of indiana right on the river. In fact I have a river view from our home so i can't get much farther south without moving to KY.
