We had a good sized storm move through California yesterday that went through the night and has tapered off as of an hour ago. Lots of flooding going on, but mostly localized from streams and creeks. I've got over a foot of water out in the front of my house. Nothing like waking up and having to tromp bare foot through cold water to clean the drains out. I have not seen water like this here since 1997. This has been wettest December in over 50 years in Sacramento. I hope all of our California members have been as fortunate as me since I don't have any property damage, just a small river in front of my house. There are probably 12 ways out of my neighborhood but it seems most people like to try and flood out their cars on the street I live on. Entertaining to watch.

I don't know what part of Sac you're in, but if you're close to any creeks or rivers, the real danger will be this afternoon. Once that water has a chance to roll off the hills, or come down from upstate, it all has to pass through Sacramento. Maybe a nice pair of chest waders from the local sporting goods store?

Tools are high and dry. But getting rid of this water will take a while. Thankfully there are not any creeks or streams in my area.

Good to know that new saw and the welders are ok.
A shop vac works ok, but a dedicated water pump is the way to go. We had flooding every spring till my dad got the brains to have drain tiles and a sump installed.

The problem with you Californians is :) ……….you have too much clay :D . I grew up in the East Bay. That blue clay they have there is something else  . Luckily we have a lot of sand here, but certain areas here still flood every year  .

That clay is the only thing that keeps us stuck to the mainland -- otherwise we would have slid off years ago from all the earthquakes and rainstorms.

David,
I feel your pain as we have been getting drenched for the last 5 days. I am at 600 feet so no chance of flooding but my road has seen better days (good excuse to break out the tractor :D ). All of the low-lying fields around us look like lakes. As I am typing this the rain is pounding us. I am waiting for some trees to start falling over from the ground being so saturated.

That reminds me.
I was going to ask Hankj (Browns Valley, I think) if he would run a tig test for me.
I wanted to know if a TA 185 would float.....and for how long? :D :D
