I always buy local so I can try them on first. One misplaced seam can make wearing them very uncomfortable.

Gouging, price gouging ? So you are going to have extra cash to by a leather jacket, ok I'm confused

CAC-A gouging, plasma gouging, maybe oxy-fuel gousing. Either way, sparks go everywhere. Do a search for "gouging" and you'll find lots of info on here.

True. I was running some short beads today on a cart I'm building when a spring clamp holding a square slipped off. That made me jump and my arm went down on the hot tube I had just finished laying my beads on. I usually always wear a welding jacket, apron or arm protectors, but the space was so cramped that it was restricting my movement so I put on extra long gloves instead. Doh! I would have been fine if that clamp and square didn't fall off. haha
The smell of cooked hair and skin is always nice. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. :)

My local AirGas store can get any Tillman product in a few days, usually at prices as good as on the net.
Some of Tillman's leathers are imported (and inexpensive), others are domestic & really nicely made. The domestic leathers wear like iron & fit well. I buy only the choclate brown color as it does not show dirt at all.

Yes, but carbon arc sparks tend to hurt a whole lot more as they carry lots of tiny little blobs of metal.

It doesn't matter what you put on to protect yourself, you will find yourself dancing around at some point, and looking around to see if anyone saw your hot man dance. :D

yup, no getting around that. Also, wear ear plugs to protect the ear drums.

you have obously never used a carbon arc gouger, my arms are all scared up from just regular welding, if you don't cover up well to run a gouger you will be in bad shape :( i do realize that you can put on all the protection in the world and still get burned, but why not try to minimize the chances?
thanks for all the imput guys!
