i set my cart up to hold every thing, but to also be able to seperate it if needed. the O/A bottle holders becomes its own cart by pulling 3 pin's, as it has its own set of weels it is just as easy to move without the rest of the car as it is with. also a drore is werth its wait in gold, i made mine out of 14gage sheet metal and welded it up into a drore as i dont have a break i had to cut all the pices and weld them into a droor. you can buy sliders prity cheep so all in all it was prity cheap to make. i got my sliders from a desk some one was throwing away so they were free :D . there is also room next to my welder for clamps or vice grips, or a vice depoending on what i will need.a lil extra spacealso is werth the time as it alows for flexability as more time than not you will need to take diferent stuff to each job/project. ;) my cart also needed to be able to go throw the muddy yard a lot so large air filled tires were in order, so i started with a garden wagon from wallmart $50.00 as it was set up for mud and had a removeable handle so i could get it out of the way when not pulling it and it will also hook up behind my ridding mower should i see the need :D as i said befor think out what you will need and build it to suit you, and keep room for expantion. when i built mine all i had was the MM135 and wile i have added a plasma and an O/A setup they are all still on the original cart. :D
good luck and have fun.

naaa that works this is pritty, the lil woman made me some sleves for my O/A bottles cuzz the things look like pooo and even though i own them they exchange thm not refill so if i painted the bottles they would just end up going off to some one eles the next time i went in for a fill. so she added sleeves with embroyderd clasic cartoon figures. :p ya got tommy and chucky riding spike, and every one knows TAZZZ :D hey i gota do thouse victors justise ya know. ;)

None of you guys has electrical outlets on there or space for hanging grinders.

This is the "in progress" cart for my tig. I've only had it a couple weeks, and have been busy welding instead of accessorizing the cart. The space underneath is where the torch cooler will be built into.

I don't have a pic of my mig cart, but it has 1" angle iron rails with the edge up along the sides so you can hang your grinders on it.

Both have 4 20A 115V outlets as well. Waiting to find a good price on a step-down transformer for the tig cart though. The mig one is at least 9 years old and has served me well. I'll try to remember to shoot a pic of it.

nope no power outlets, but the top is 1" angel facing up on mine, so you could hang grinders if you wanted but i put them beside the mig on the bottem shelf. :D
looking forward to seeing your new TIG cart.and welcome to the board. :)

See, I have my 4" with flap pad and my 5.25" with abrasive disk hanging off it most of the time. Lately I've been wishing I had more rail space because my 7" takes up a lot of room with the other 2. :D

The mig cart is a little different than the tig. I only have a 80cf tank on that (MM130) and the tank support comes up the back of the welder as it's own frame, where I decided to reconfigure the handles on the tig and add a bracket to the back of the chassis for the tank strap on the tig. Seeing as I have no need to get inside the tig, it's giving me more options on how to lay out the sides and where and what to do about rails and storage. As long as I don't block the vents, I've got lots of options on what to make of this beast. I'm definitely going to add some holders for filler rod, since it's getting old going out to the garage to get the stuff off my O/A rig.

Thanks for the welcome. Hopefully I won't be too much of a PIA. :)

Why do you need a stepdown tranformer? I assume that you're running 240VAC to the cart. In which case, you could use a 4-conductor wire, two hots, a neutral, and a ground. Pull 240VAC off both hots for the welder and put two 120VAC outlets between either hot and the neutral.

The increased cost of 6-4 would be the reason for the transformer. I already have my 6-3.

Well, you could cheat and use the ground as neutral. The only detrimental effects would be possibly tripping a GFCI if there is one and irritating electricians.

The only issue there, is that then the chassis becomes hot if you become grounded. ;)

The transformers are $30 (or about the same as a sepparate 12-3 cord would be). I'll do it right.

I'm also well aware, that the neutral and ground strips are bridged in the service box, and that most tools these days have plastic cases and 2 wire cords. It's a liability to cheat, and that would make my insurance agent rather upset if something bad were to happen.

JW36:
My compressor is mounted to the over head rafters, My space issue is this, 14' x 21' garage, with one tool tower, a 10' long section of shelves, a 10' long bench, a 7' bench, a large welder, a fire proof chemical cabinet. Believe me the floor space isn't plentiful, but in a moments notice I can and do put any standard vehicle in the same garage for repairs, now that is tight but efficient use of space.

Peace,

PJ, where did you get your chemical cabinet?

I have a buttload of paint that should really be locked up in one, but I'm not about to drop $1K on a new one. OSHA isn't a concern for me right now, but my insurance guy has a nasty habit of checking in on me. It's like he thinks I'm gonna bring the O/A torch inside the basement or something. lol Has to be sure it stays in the fire rated garage and do spot checks (guess I'm not paying him enough to leave me alone). Actually, he's a cool guy and is just interested in my work, but he does get nosey when asking "work" related questions about my policy.

My cabinent came from an auction, of a print shop I used to work at. A new one will set you back $700, mine cost $150. Mine holds 4, 5 gallon cans of whatever. Spend the cash, be safe or keep up your life insurance.

Peace,

Nice score, I wasn't so lucky. I paid $700 for the two Justrites that I have but that's a whole lot less than if...................

I keep my paints on the other side of a fire rated wall, and a good 30 feet from where I mig and tig weld, and not in the same direct space either. When I make the move to a dedicated cabinet, it will actually be out in the garage with my torch, so that will be less safe than where the stuff is now.

I'm having too much fun in life to be careless and blow myself up now. :D But thanks for the concern.
