Anyone else using Murex rods? I stumbled onto some at a great price; they are made by Lincoln but do NOT run like Excaliber. They are sweet, smooth, and almost spatter free. I am using the 7018MR....................anyone else run any of this?

Never heard of them. We use MG 518.
Lincoln gave me 100lbs of Excaliber and we were real happy when it was used up. I will have to check on Murex.

All you need to do is buy a new Lincoln engine drive machine and have a couple months worth of warranty issues. One of their suppliers sent them a load of bad Boards and it took a while to get it figured out.
The District rep sent me some Excaliber to take the bite out of all the trouble.
I thought that was decent.

Jhall what do you mean when you say "we were real happy when it was used up"?I take it you were not pleased with the performance?I`ve run both Murex and Excaliber and have the same opinon as admweld.
I much prefer the Excalibur rods. They burn clean and their restrike characteristics are better than anything I have used. I have not used the murex. If I find something that works I am reluctant to change it.

I sell some murex wire and rod it is less expensive to regular lincoln wire and rod making it a price point for the customer.I LOVE the lincoln excaliber 7018 runs super may cost a little more but I sell 90% of my 7018 is excaliber ;)

We prefer the MG 518 because of less spatter and the flux doesn't fall off like excalibur.

It's funny when it comes to welding robs, Excal is a great rod, a little pricey but it's great, Murex is a good rod we sell a ton of it here in our store and down in Lower Westchester NY, those iron guys love it, and love the prices we get. Then you have MG or eutectic 7018rs, i have guys that rave about this rod and how great it is, and then i have others who say it's junk. But in MHO if i'm going to pay for rod, i'll take the Exacl over anything at the moment.
