Hi guys, I used my MM185 Spoolgun today with .035 solid steel wire. I needed the extra cord to reach out. Anyway i had to turn up the heat all the way and the wire down lower to weld 1/8" steel plate. I thought the settings would have been a little closer to what i normally run with the regular mig M-15 gun. Just curious...Bob

I could see you getting some voltage drop with the longer cable so you might need to increase the voltage.

I would watch out for wear on nylon tube that goes from the drive rolls to contact tip. This might wear fastser with steel wire and maybe the drive rolls as well as they are intended more for soft wire but I don't think you have any problems. Just check all the parts when you change wire. You could enen file the burr off the end of the wire before feeding it through this goes for any wire at all it will prolong the life of the liner. Just couple of tips from one welder to another.
