I'm considering buy a used Maxstar and just went out to the Miller Site to see how the warranty reads.
If I'm correct, and the warranty language is enforced, the warranty only applies to the original owner/purchaser of the welder.
Is this correct?

I'll not answer the question only let you read for yourself.
http://www.millerwelds.com/pdf/warranty.pdf
I read it that the warranty is started at time of retail delivery to the original retail customer.
This is info accessable from the main millerwelds homepage.

The miller site and specifically the link pjseaman provided is where I obtained the information.
I raised the question only to see if someone might comment that although stated, it might not be a "hard fast rule" that it must be the original owner as long as the machine is within the warranty time period.
Thanks.

He just asked at a Miller owned site called "Ask Andy", and you call that speculation. One would think that the Miller Ask Andy forum might be a place to get reliable, real world answers on a Miller machine warantee.

Hey guys,
Miller has typically honored machine warranty issues based on the manufacture date of the machine if there is no sales receipt. Read between the lines: ;)

Good read Hawk, the feature I really enjoy about Miller Electric is favorable customer service. Questionable purchase recorders have been revealed, this is a rare item, IF YOU STEAL IT, DON"T ASK for warrenty, otherwise Miller is right there for you.... This is first hand.

Not long ago there was a simular question about the lack of a warenty card to be maied in and I believe it was a miller rep. who stated that the warrenty is based on the sales reciept date and lacking the original sales reciept they go with the manufacture date acording to the serial #.
I cant remember the topic title but the thread was started within the last month I think.

it was a few months back, time flys ;) but true if no recept available they will go off the ser.# with any luck it will not have sat in the retail store for 2 years befor you got it. if that were the case i would got to the retailer and ask him for sails records. i dont see anyone saying that youre name is not on the recept so you will have to pay.
if it is a stolen welder and the owner has reported it they will know that too.so if you dont know the person you are getting it from you might want to check the #'s. i know if mine was stollen miller would have my ser.# that day :)
i am in no way implying that you have a stollen welder, just hopeing that if any 1 is considering stealing 1 that they be aware that millers cost. service will get them, and perhaps they will go past my house
