Q. What is the best .030 MIG wire to use for welding floor pans
in a '66 Mustang? (Submitted by: jerrell locklear from castle hayne nc)
A. I would use an ER70S-6 for your project. It has more deoxidizers and should wet out nicer.

Hi Newbie here :)
I'm going to be mig welding on my '66 Mustang Convert also.
Can you kindly tell just WHY ER70S-6 is BEST to use
Is this a SOLID CORE WIRE or FLUX CORE WIRE
THANK YOU
GOD BLESS

It's a solid wire. Shielding gas is used with it.

Cored wires are designated "ExxT-yy, where the "T" means "tubular". Solid wires are designated "ERxxS-y", where the "S" means "solid". In both cases, the "yy" is the indicator of the wires chemical content. The numbers are called the "AWS Classification" (AWS = American Welding Society).
Actually, if it's a matter of opinion, I'd say ESAB's Spoolarc Easy Grind (it does not have an AWS classification, like ER70S-6) is the best auto body work solid wire.
