i keep a thing of baby powder in my shop, its a great dry lubricant, ive found 1 more use, rub it into rusty steel and on the straight edge when using plasma cutter, it works better than soap stone , no drag, very little friction, makes my cuts almost look like i know what im doing

And it smells good while doing it.:p!!!!!Wait a minute are you saying you don't know what your doing.??? You maybe the only welder that smells like a baby (powder).
If you run out of baby powder you can always use corn starch, that way you don't smell like a baby (powder). That is also good for a itch you cant scratch :eek:and I will leave it at that...I am sure you know what you are doing after all you use Baby powder.:p!!!!!!

Corn Starch is the main ingredient of most "baby powders".

That maybe true, in some brands, but cornstarch don't smell and you can cook with it. Some people is sensitive to sweet smells. I have been around people that put too much of that type of stuff on, and I have been around people that needs to put that type of stuff on. I guess we can all say that... By the way the baby powder we have don't have corn starch it shows it has Talc. The brand name is Equate. I use it when i put a patch on an inner tube. But I just might try it on my guide as well.. I never said starch was not in the baby powder, I was bringing out you can use that too...

i have 2 off road trucks, jeep and scout, i put winchs on back of both, we put these trucks in places where breakage and trouble are just about every rock, i wanted to protect the winch cables to the battery, the batteries are in front i had to make the cables fairly long, i ran 1 inch heater hose from the winch to the battery, twice, here comes the baby powder use, just try pushing dry cable in dry rubber hose, impossible, put the powder to it , slid together real easy, i guess corn starch will work also, its proably the same stuff, im constantly robbing the house for my garage needs, i grab any nail polish thats not protected, cheap, laquer paint, many colors, brush on app. try removing a fuel tank with 8 fuel and vent lines, i color code them with the polish, it sticks and it works, the only drawback is the look you get at the checkout line with 20 of these things at the register, im always scoping my house out for what will work in shop, gotta have fun

Yes Kevin. I know what you mean, I like marking things because you know you will put them back the way they should go. I even mark the cutter tooth that I start with when I sharpen a saw chain. That's something a guy will get funny looks:eek: buying nail polish, but a lady can buy men's under wear with out any looks.!! Go figure.:p
