I am having a shielding gas problem with my syncrowave 250. It is a model year 1990, but I do not have the serial # on me at the moment. The problem I am having is when I turn the machine & the aragon on, the gas starts coming out of my torch. I will start to weld with it then stop, but the gas will continue to flow & then will just shut off when it wants to. I have already replaced the gas solenoid, but nothing changed. My question is, does the machine control the shielding gas with a circuit board & relay or just a relay? I tried searching, and it looks like people had problems with there gas solenoids, but that's not my case. Thanks ahead of time for any help.

Sounds like dodgy relay

Do you have a preflow/ post flow dial?, If not you may just have a sticky relay, best ot replace it, or whack it to free the contacts..

When you first turn the Sync 250 on, it does go through a purge gas flow for however many seconds of postflow you have set.
Check your post flow time and make sure it's not too long. The timer module that controls the post flow is right behind the post flow knob. It may be bad if all else checks good.

I do have postflow on the machine. As soon as I turn the machine on, the gas starts to flow & will continue for as long as it wants (ie. 5min). I am going to try to get sometime tomorrow night to try & mess with the postflow timer. Once again thank you guys for all of your help!

I messed with the postflow tonight. When I turned the postflow off the gas stopped flowing, & the gas worked properly when I used the pedal. I think the postflow timer may not be working, and it just keep flowing instead of turning off after so many seconds. I think I am going to start with a postflow timer.
