I recently purchased a used WP-18-25-R Weldcraft tig torch real cheap. I was wondering if anyone out there has ever shortened the leads on this torch successfully. The lines are melted about 12" from the end of the torch. It looks like it is possible, but before I cut them and make it completely unusable I thought I should ask. Thanks in advance.

The power cable will be the biggest problem. It has a braided cable inside, and water flows through the hose also. The ends are crimped on so, you would have to get a new one to crimp on, and the crimper tool. It's cheaper to just buy the power cable. ($30)
The water and gas hoses have no fittings on them for the torch end so, those can be cut no problems. You may need some wire hose clamps ($.50)for these if the torch dosen't have mechanical fittings.
