I've got a chance to get a robot w/a power source and I've got a few questions.
If hooked up to a bot is is possible to change the weld parameters through the robot control or do I need the setup pendant for the power source.
Looking at the new auto axcess power sources there is an adapter to use it as a standard power source. Is there the same thing available for the autoinvision?
Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Call Miller and ask for the automation department in the AMS group.

They will fix you right up.

Well generally the robot has all the pre programming controls via the teach pendant mode.. and yes you can use the autoaxcess as a regular but somewhat expensive power source.

Well no phone call so I will try to cover as much as I can here in a couple of minutes.
The robot controller can send simple on/off messages to the power source. It can also sent more complex messages such as voltage changes. The key to that happening is having the power source option for either shared control or robot control turned on. If it is not turned on then you will need the pendant to make that change. If the shared control is not on then you will get the program that is active and only that program because the welder is only looking for the high/low or on/off signal. To make the change again takes the pendant. I would make any purchase like what you'r looking at condtitional on the pendant.

The Axcess machine also has the power source/shared/robot control function but it can be easier to work with. The Axcess also has some different arc programs in it that you might like a whole lot better than the invision.

If I read the OM correctly the auto invision has different weld schedules preloaded also. Am I correct?

Yes the power source will have up to 8 active programs. Again, if the remote program select is not on then it will default to program one and you get what you get. Without the pendant buying the auto invision can be like buying a corvette that only has 1st gear.
