Hi everyone I do mobile welding on the side but things have picked up. I need to buy a plasma cutter but dont know alot about them. I am still reading on them but looking for some imput. Thanks

Go by the machine's amp rating when you are comparing models. Otherwise, it seems like every manufacturer has their own specific ratings for snake oil sales.
and......go UP at least 1 size when you are thinking what's the thickest I would cut??? If you can, try to go to your LWS and test it there!!! If they let you, I would try it on your engine drive.

what type of cutting do you expect to do with it ?
a lot of the guys here have the spectrum 375 extream. nice powerful very portable, and will work off most generators. if you need more power the 625 extream is also a ready to go portable unit.

renting the unit you think will fit your needs before buying is a good idea. check with your local welding store and see if its possible to rent or at-least try out a unit before buying.;)
