Just curious about impressions. I wanted a tig for the house, but I wanted to know if it would be sufficient or if I should just save my pennies and get the Dynasty 200DX.

you might look threw this thread.

its a bit long and has some distractions in it unfortunately, but lots of input there to be read from members and Miller staff.
hope it helps
seems like i remember reading a few posts from new owners.all were very positive reports. i think for home hobby use its bang on. although a stick option would be nice, if interested in learning TIG & stick, you would be SOL. but if stick is not of interest, its a great home shop inverter option for $1,300 ish. hard to compete with the $$ for an AC/DC unit, add such a brand name to back it up and it just keeps getting better.:D i wish they had it out when i was looking into starting TIG.
i think the Dyn200DX is a great TIG unit no ? about it. but the $ for one is a bit high for a home hobby. well outside my toy budget, but if you have the $ no question its the top toy.;)

did you do a search ?? i'll see if i can dig up some of the reviews that i have seen posted and add a link as i find them.

do you have any other welders?
what experience level are you?
do you have 240V power available ?
is space an issue ?
how large of an outlet (amp's) do you have available ?

edit........
found one.:)

Got a Diversion

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are my first thoughts on my new Diversion.

Sweet machine.

I ran a few test beads yesterday and was really impressed. The 'wheel' was a little different and will take some getting used to...especially on sheet metal. But I think when I get used to it it will be handy maybe more so than a foot pedal.

Miller really hit the sweet spot on the AC side, for being fixed balance and freq. I pulled an odd piece of 1/8 aluminum out of the scrap bin and ran a few beads on it.....no cleaning just had to try the new toy. It was great.

I have to say I am happier with this than the PT 185 I sold last winter. I think the AC side was nicer than the Syncro I used in class.

Would I prefer to have had a Dynasty 200 DX....well yes of course. BUT the amount of profit I have to make to afford a $3000 dollar machine versus the Diversion is alot more...at least for my micro business. This allows me to do things I would have had to turn down and made no profit on.

I also wanted to say that the spoon fed part of the dial is about like the 'slide rule' that came with the PT 185. The amps are plainly marked on the dial.

Oh one other little thing....the protective cover over the torch hoses was a nice touch....one less thing I had to buy.

Thanks.
It's for the house and I'm wiring in the 240 this weekend. I used to TIG a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago, but I'm sure it'll come back with a few foul words and some ruined materials:p. I have a Millermatic140 w/autoset (which is a great little machine BTW) a Victor Oxy/Acetylene rig, a Miller 120V plasma (which isn't very useful, but was cheap so I figured what the heck). I'm mainly doing a resto on my 65 mustang vert, but I like to fabricate all sorts of things for work and around the house and a tig is just so much nicer to use. No splatter, quiet and beautiful strong welds. At $1300 it seems like a good deal. I was just curious how well it worked.
