Hello
I am having trouble with our plasma cutter at work. My job is to repair electric and electronic problems. We have a welding crew that has asked me to look at it and repair it. The unit powers on and the ready light also comes on. When you press the trigger nothing happens. I have checked all wires coming through the trigger and they are all ok. I have a few questions I hope someone can answer.
1) When the unit is turned on and the ready light comes on should the air coming through the nozzle turn off? The air comes out all the time when powered on.
2) I was able to get it to work a few times and I think the air cut off by itself, but I noticed that it would start an arc away from any metal and with the ground lead disconnected. It this right? It worked great for awhile, but now it will not start an arc at all.
3) I am thinking that the safety control board might be bad. I did see a little condensate coming out of the nozzle. Would this stop it from arcing.
I did some voltage checks and I have power through the switch, but I did not have any control voltage at the contactor or the air control valve.
Sorry it is so long.
Thanks JohnT

Sounds like your gun is full of water, and/or possibly oil from an airtool line.

PM me with your email address and I'll supply you with a service manual.
