To the best of my knowledge the xmt 300 is a DC machine so no it won't tig aluminum. The rfcs-14 remote might make it easier for you to tig with the unit but it depends on what it is your welding. If your using it on thin material the remote will probably help you a lot, on thicker material it's not as big of a deal since your less likely to burn through.

Oh yeah and if it stick welds anything like the XMT 350's we have at work then YES it's a GREAT stick machine!!!:D
Good luck and have fun.

Go here http://www.millerwelds.com/service/ownersmanuals.php , select your model and plug in your unit's serial number. A user's manual for your welder will pop up for download. That should answer your questions. Pay attention to whether your welder will accept a gas solenoid as an option. If it does, your can make it much more user-friendly as a DC (read as - not for aluminum) TIG welder. Good luck. :)
