If the Cobramatic feeder was a voltage sensing unit, then yes, if not then no.

Only voltage sensing feeders will work properly on CC only units.

In the early days of the Cobramatic, a slow run-in speed was offered to make it easier to start arc on stick, cc, machines. Cobramatic called it 'posa-start' and the switch with that label was inside right cover toward front of machine. If your cabinet has that, you will get much better performance on 330ABP. Results turn bad, however, the moment anyone leaves the hi-freq switch on the tig 'on'. The likely result is a blown speed module in the feed cabinet. Not catastrophic, just needless expense and aggravation. weldersales

If it is what post #2 and #3 describes.....you will have to determine if it is voltage sensing and has the slow run in option.
I personally am wondering why you are doing this when you have a Millermatic already:confused:

So how about trying it on the Miller 251? Some people might not consider that because already having a built in feeder would make it seem redundant.
Then it should run perfect without having to "re-invent" the welder. Then you could LEARN how to weld aluminum and not be hassled with not knowing if the machine is giving you fits or you don't have the technique quite right:cool:;)
If it works fine then you might play with the BIG Miller then, knowing how the Cobra should act.
Just my observation....(and certainly what I would do)...not trying to sound condesending or anything. I just think maybe that you may not have considered the MM251 should be sweet and that is one thing I have never heard someone with a converted CC machine bragging about.

the main reason why i bought the machine was to make a multi process. mig/tig/arc. the 251 is always in use when i need it so thats why i bought the cobramatic. well i bought two of them :)

I have a neighbor who has been trying to hook up a Cobra to his Syncrowave 200 for months now. He is a know it all truck driver:rolleyes:, and won’t listen to me:p, even though I’ve been pulling triggers for close to 40-years!
Oh well my Cobra works flawlessly.:D

whats a good price on a complete cobramatic used

Can't tell you the lowest recorded selling price on a Cobramatic, but I saw a two year old model on CL one day last week for $1800 and the next day for $1700. It disappeared after that, so I guess it sold.

There is an outfit on eBay called Bidado, I’ve seen them go as low as $200.00 but they were pretty beat up. I paid little over 400.00 for mine. Before I bid on mine I called the factory in Long Beach California to check on the availability of parts. The gentleman said the Boeing company in Seattle Washington was up grading all their Cobras, on the whole nothing wrong with them just to old for a production situation.

FYI, all parts are still available!

i paid 60.00 for both of mine in good working condition lol
