I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure.
I might of been out of town if you posted them before.
Either way, the bed looks pretty good on the new truck.

That's me. Things are a little different now but basically the same.
I like the paint, JT. And the shiney wheels.
I didn't go for shiny on the new one...The old one had the shineys:)

I'm going to add a chrome strip about 3 inches high along the bottom of the back of the skirt where people kick the paint when using the steps. It'll help keep the tailgaters back at night as well.
If I ever put doors on it they'll be chrome if I can find them and alu checker if I can't.

Then the answer is to "getcha some". I consider it a safety issue, on both welding rigs and Harley-Davidsons;)
I consider the color to be green with some blue, my wife/chic considers it blue with some green so I really don't know.

Jt, What do you make your deck part out of (is it tubeing with plate on it or something different? ) I'm going to build a deck this year(due to the fact that I don't want to pay 30,000 bucks to have one built. Oh yeah your cable arm is it on a bearing or just a pivot? Any help would be appreciated. Jef

The frame is 4" channel, almost everything else is 10 ga.
The frame is modified from the first welding bed I made, for an '83 F-350. I took the skirt and decking off and cut the frame down to fit the Dodge and put on a new skirt and top.
The hosier stick is 2" pipe, with a telescoping section made of 1 1/2". It has three sets of hooks, a rubber stinger hanger and an umbrella holder on the end. The telescoping section comes out about 5 additional feet. The vertical leg drops into a piece of tube (I don't know what size but it's a nice fit) that's set into the front inside corner of the toolbox, with a hole in the bottom to allow water to drain. Looking at the top of the toolbox you only see the round opening. You reach inside the toolbox to tighten the bolt that keeps it from spinning. The advantage to a a swinging or rotating stick is I can set it anywhere I want, I set it up straight off the back sometimes. Otherwise the sticks that are fixed, and extend straight out to the side are simpler and lighter. That's kind of hard to describe verbally so let me know if it's not understandable.

Was the cab to axle and frame rail dimensions the same on your new Ford as they were on the old?
Did that bed drop on or did you work on it?

Perfect timing, I'll be waiting for the pics of your bedslide, so I can compare it to one in a Dodge up here. If you can, please keep track of bearing numbers & sizes.
Thank you very much in advance.

Not taking anything away from JT here, beautiful truck, clean, tight, efficient, but what really catches my eye here is the background scenery . . . is that where you live, or were those pictures taken on a jobsite???? Either way, great set of pics, I think JT has some artistic talent, even if he won't admit it :p :p ;)
Hahaha, no hugs necessary or wanted ;) ;)

Yep. this is the third truck that bed has been on...77 chev 1ton,91 ford F450, 02 F550 all the same wheelbase, and frame width. Just different fuel filler locations.
Just pick it up fully loaded and set it on the new truck:cool:
When I took it off the Chevy, I had the SAM 400 on it. You could here the Chevy sigh when it was lifted off:D
This poor old bed has been cut up and remodeled several times over the years.

J Hall,
What's it made of, 1/4" plate?
What if anything have you used for undercoating?? Is it rusting bad?
Mine has a heavy coat of industrial zinc rich primer I had left over from a job and it's held up real well so far. But It's worked in dry conditions probably 75% of it's life so far.
Calweld,
That's my backyard, it's not for everybody but we are really fond of the scenery at our place. It's prime lion and rattlesnake country tho. We lead poison about an average of 4-6 rattlesnakes per summer that are dangerously close to the house (I've got a 3 year old and a 5 year old playing out there). We leave the bull snakes and racers alone of course. Every once in a while a lion will come down and get into it with someones dog(s). But we dig it here.

John,
I gotta laugh here, we get our share of snakes, mostly gopher, garter, king snakes, sometimes a rattlesnake, especially in dry years (and this is one!!! ). I'm glad you know the difference, many people don't, perfect example is my wife, born and raised in SF:rolleyes:   , definitely not a country girl, thinks I should shoot every snake that comes by. What's really funny is we have a sunken living room, there's a hole there somewhere, haven't found it yet, every once in a while a snake will come slithering across the floor, usually when we're cuddling on the couch in the evening, on the one hand, it's hilarious, on the other hand, it's sure a mood killer (on her part, not mine).
Anyhow, my compliments on your backyard (in spite of the snakes and lions), and thanks for posting the pictures.

Healthy lions avoid humans like the plague, but sick or injured ones will, out of desperation, go for the dogs food, or the dog AS food, or the livestock, and those are the only ones that tread around homes.
Any snake, of any flavor, inside my house will mean my wifes 590 riot gun will be unloaded (8 12 ga. in the mag and one up the spout) and the floor will need repairs. If that didn't settle things she'd start unloading anything she could get her hands on.
I have killer (outdoor) cats that do a pretty good job, hopefully they will prevent any need for in-the-house discharge of major calibers. We get a centipede, or a lizard in the house every few years, that entertains the kids as my wife/chic becomes a killer-with-a-broom, they get to see a whole nuther side of Mama.
