Is anyone out there using Hobart Pipemaster 60's with a TB 302? I have been and have just about given up on them. They worked very well with my Bobus Catus, but they just plain suck on the TB. The agressive undercut will not go away. No matter what I try by playing with the dig, raise amps, lower amps, weave like there is no tomorrow, whip like a dog..... nothing helps. It just will not go away. Slap a 5P+, no problem at all controlling it. Go back to the PM60, same old ugliness. I am just wondering if anyone else is seeing this.

Now, I am not having this trouble with the 3/32's, just the 1/8's. Makes no sense to me at all. 6010's are my mainstay for general stuff. I had to go back to 6011's for this fence job because they want way too much for the 5P+'s now. But then I don't have any troubles with them. I was wondering if I just got a bad box...may be the case. Just not sure. I don't have any troubles with the 6011's.( Hobart 335's) So it isn't a Hobart deal.

Whatcha think...anyone else seeing this?

Here is one reason I tried them.....PM60 1/8 50#= $62.50 +tx.......5P+ 50#= $95.00 + tx. I suppose if I want to go 6010, I may have to bite the bullet.:(

I don't use a whole wack of them but I have noticed that my TB likes the 3/32 6010's alot more than the 1/8. Any problems I had sound pretty minor compared to what you mention. Just a guess but it sounds like you just got a bad box because, for me, the Pipemasters have worked pretty well.

Burnie, you could be right. I am glad that you did notice the 3/32 thing. Makes me a little less suspicious that I could be loosing my mind.:p ;) I may have to pick up a 5#er when I go back, just to be sure. If so, I will have about 25# for an artist dude to play with.:(

Coal, I'm not going there. 5P's don't do it....7018's don't do it.....6011's don't do it. Just these rods. Telling me my machine is the culprit across the board is not going to fly. I can adjust the dig and actually make a difference. I can tell the difference and tailor it to my wants at the time. Starting up the TB Bashwagon again is not helping me at all.http://smiley.onegreatguy.net/waiting.gif

First you say the rods work well on your bobcat but not on your trailblazer. Then coal says his opinion of the tb arc, then you say it cant be the tb because it burns 5p+ good. ????????
Well wtf???

i run a few pipemasters a couple weeks back, and i liked em.they where 1/8 too.i wouls say you very well could have a bad box.with that said i do kinda prefer the 5p+ too,but here where im at they run price wise about what you posted, and im a sucker for saving money.so i mainly use hobarts.i do prefer hobart over lincoln in the 7018.

i also can tell a big difference when i turn my dig up and down.could be operator error on being able to tell when dig is changed.

dont worry about tb comments, anybody that know anything about welding or welders should know the 302 is a fine welding machine.so that should tell you where the previous comments stand with me.:D

Gawd,,,,,just what I needed today.

Coal, first off... All I wanted was rod specific info. I am not bashing you or trying to start something. You didn't offer any useful info, but instead started what sounded like another bashfest. If I am wrong, I apologize. I do not have time for that crap. I have way too much to do at the moment. I have been doing this a very long time. I do know how to find out which rods run best on a machine. I am well aware that the machine is particular to certain rods. It hates Excaliber and runs Hobart 418's like there is no tomorrow. MY TB is not undercut happy. I can run it all day long and never have a problem. I didn't want a general slam on the TB, which I got. I was asking about a specific rod and if anyone else had the same results...which they are not. That gives me enough to try another lot of rods with the hope I have a bad batch. That is all I wanted. I do not need a business lesson since I've been on my own since '84 and am doing just fine. :)

Shield, one can't go by my Bobus in comparison to the TB. The arcs are way different and the Bobus despises Hobart rods in general. These PM60's were the first ones that it has ever run acceptably. The TB will run any 6010 very well, just not this box. This is the first full box of them it has ever seen. I had a partial run on it, but do not remember anything one way or another of them. If the TB was the trouble, I am very sure the 5P's would run like crap, the 5P+ would run like crap....according to what I was told in that post, it all should run like crap.....BUT, I know they all don't....just the PM60's...or should I say this can of PM60's. That is all I was saying. It makes perfect sense to me... and.......nevermind. That is all I meant.

Weldigrod, thanks for the info.;)
