Miller Electric first introduced Variable Balance Alternating Current (VBAC) for submerged arc welding (SAW) in 1997 when it introduced the Summit Arc 1000 at the AWS weld show. This was the first power source to use a three phase primary input to generate an AC output. This was traditionally and still most commonly done with a single phase power source. The Summit Arc has since been recognized worldwide for its ability to increase deposition rate over that of DCEP, decrease heat input at given amperages and still providing sound quality welds.
Three-phase primary power input reduces primary input amperage, input fuse size and input primary cable. Fan-On-Demand™ cooling system only works when needed reducing energy usage and noise.
LVC™ Line Voltage Compensation keeps output of the power source constant regardless of fluctuation in input power ± 10%. |
