Miller

Challenge Finals, to be held during CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas, March 22 – 24,
2011. Construction Challenge is a joint effort of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers
(AEM) and Destination ImagiNation (DI) to expose high school students to the construction
industry by providing real-world experiences in construction. The goal of AEM Construction
Challenge is to encourage youth to pursue careers in construction.
On January 15, 2011, high school teams all over North America competed at nine regional
rallies with the top 24 teams advancing to finals at CONEXPO-CON/AGG. Both teams
from Highland Park High School competed in the Chicago rally, besting 48 other teams.
Teams will compete in two challenges during CONEXPO-CON/AGG at different sites around
the Las Vegas Convention Center. Teams need to use creativity, innovation and teamwork
to solve each challenge. Each member of the first place team will win a $1,000 scholarship
and an Apple iPad.

A brand new, 185-mile X70 natural gas pipeline was constructed in the summer and
fall of 2010 that cuts through the heart of White County, Ark. Sheehan Pipeline
Construction Company's portion of the pipeline — a 65-mile stretch of 42-inch X70
pipe — stretches through rocky terrain exposed to wind, dust and heat. It adequately
represents the rigorous environments pipeline welders, and their engine-driven welder
generators, face daily. Miller teamed up with Local 798 — the largest pipeline local
in the United States — to design a new machine that would stand up to this harsh,
demanding work environment while also evolving to meet the changing needs of the
industry. The result: Miller's Big Blue® 350 PipePro® System.
