Welding Bench

by R. Nieding

Project Description

I wanted a welding bench that I could clamp through such as an acorn style but didn't want to spend the dollars required for a purchased unit. The top is made of steel decking like you would find in an industrial setting for steps or a walkway. I actually purchased several hundred feet at scrap price. Mig Angle Iron Channel Grating

Build Process

The stands are reclaimed angle iron from another project and mig welded. The top was set flat by clamping and shimming before tack welding every six inches. The slots are the perfect size for small C-clamps. The bench height is 32 inches. I also have a piece of 1/4 plate that I can layout for table top welding.

Tools Used

Chop saw

I love it! Great idea and I'm jealous you found that decking at scrap price! Thanks for sharing. Kelly Kelly@diyweldingplans.com
