Trailer Security Tower

by D. Myers

Project Description

I needed a secure post to lock my double jet ski trailer with the jet ski's on when I'm not using them. So I built a 20 inch tall tower with a 2 inch ball on the top that I could bolt to the drive way of my shop to secure the trailer too. Build Description 2 pieces of 1/4 inch steel plates with 90 degree bends I got from the local John Deere dealer that are used to secure tractors when shipping. Plus a 2 inch ball and four 3/4 inch concrete bolts and anchors. Also added a 3 inch red reflector to jazz it up and I powder coated it to protect it from the weather. Materials and Tools Hobart plasma cutter. Miller Diversion 165 TIG2 large crescent wrenches.4 1/2 inch grinder.4 1/2 inch sander. Drill press.

Is the coupler held on by bolts? I lost a trailer by the thieves unbolting the coupler, bolting on a new one, and away they went.

Nice work, since there are very tight tolerances there is no room for a thief to get any leverage to pry it apart. Are the jet skis locked to the trailer?
