Miller proudly introduces Nixon-Smiley High School in Nixon, Texas.
At Nixon-Smiley High School, 20 students study welding fundamentals and applications and practice in all positions and processess: SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, Oxy-fuel and Plasma Cutting. Using a variety of equipment and tools, including Millermatic all-in-one MIG welders, students complete projects such as small BBQ grills. "Students take pride in building a quality product using layout, fabrication and welding skills with several different processes," says James Kennedy, Instructor. Kennedy understands the importance of teaching more than welding skill in the classroom, however.
"I lecture, demonstrate and provide one-on-one instruction, but I also encourage students to do their best," says Kennedy. "I would like to think that this course also teaches work ethic, thinking skills and self-confidence so that students will be more successful in whatever careers they pursue."
