APPLETON, Wis. (February 26, 2010)—In its ongoing effort to provide responsive service and products to the pipe welding industry, Miller Electric Mfg. Co. redesigned its special Web site for training coordinators of the United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters, Sprinklerfitters and Service Techs (UA). The new Web site, designed in close consultation with UA leaders and available only to UA members, provides specific product recommendations and a clear 26 percent discount pricing arrangement to simplify and expedite the product ordering process.
Instead of having to evaluate the features and benefits of hundreds of welding, plasma cutting and power generation products, union leaders are able to choose from the few products best suited to UA work. Plus, to eliminate the potential for incomplete grant applications, which can extend by months the time it takes to receive the new equipment or result in out-of-pocket expenditures, the new Web site offers complete package recommendations, including the gun/torch, wire feeder, foot controls, protective accessories and more.
For example, the new Web site eliminates the nine TIG (GTAW) power sources that are not commonly used by UA training facilities and provides complete product details and accessory packages for the two units that they are most likely to need.
In addition to simplifying the selection process for the products most used by UA schools, the Web site also includes several new product categories, including fume extraction equipment, safety apparel and induction heating equipment. Further, to reduce the time it takes to locate training resources available on Miller’s public Web site, the new UA Web site has compiled an array of training resources specific to the needs of UA schools.
UA Member Quotes
“Miller provides so many different types of equipment on their web site that it could be very easy for someone from one of our training facilities to become overwhelmed when looking for the equipment that’s best suited to do our work."
“The products that are selected for the new UA site are only those that fit our needs and budget. The clear pricing arrangement makes it easy to compile complete and accurate grant applications with a no haggle experience".
“The UA is a non-profit organization; we need equipment that specifically addresses our training needs without all the bells and whistles that manage to run up cost."
“It typically takes anywhere from six to nine months for a grant to come through, if you happen to miss something, it would have the training center shut down until the order is complete. The Complete Package Solutions option on the new UA site presents the equipment in full package format. This insures the purchase is done right the first time and training starts upon delivery."
—Cajun Seeger, Welding Director, U.A. Local 72
“In our business we have a lot of people who are not overly computer literate and sometimes it can get overwhelming when you have to sift through hundreds of products to find what you need. With this Web site, Miller has made it a lot simpler to choose a welding system. It’s relatively easy for anyone to just point and click to get where they need to go.”
“I asked Miller to include a section for safety apparel on the site because their safety gear is very good and I think that people need to know that it’s out there. Safety is very important in our business. Complacency can easily lead to injury, so I always look to promote worker safety whenever possible.”
— Jim Clark, Welding Coordinator, U.A. Local 400
