INTEGRATED WELDING SOLUTION PACKAGE OPTIMIZES PERFORMANCE AND MAXIMIZES PRODUCTIVITY ON ALUMINUM APPLICATIONS

* Miller Electric's Millermatic® 350P pulsed MIG Power Source

* Hobart Brothers' Smootharc™ 4043 and 5356 Aluminum Solid Wire

DALLAS, June 1, 2005-To optimize welding performance and maximize productivity on aluminum applications, pair together Miller Electric Mfg. Co.'s Millermatic® 350P pulsed MIG power source and Hobart Brothers' Smootharc™ 4043 and 5356 aluminum solid wire. This package is ideal for medium- to high- volume aluminum fabrication, manufacturing or maintenance and repair applications where burn-through, poor fit-up and/or distortion increase welding cycle times and repair rates.

The Millermatic 350P's pulsed MIG welding capabilities reduce weld spatter, increase deposition rates and deposition efficiency and enhance weld bead appearance compared to competitive machines. Compared to other industrial power sources, pulsing controls and bench-top style wire feeders, the Millermatic 350P's all-in-one design also costs over 30 percent less. For the superior feeding performance and the extended reach of a push-pull wire feed system, the Millermatic 350P automatically connects to Miller's XR-A Pistol, Python or Edge guns.

To further enhance aluminum productivity, the Smootharc 4043 and 5356 aluminum solid wires provide excellent feedability and good wetting action, especially when used with a push-pull gun. The wires meet the requirements of AWS A5.10, use 100 percent argon shielding gas and are available in .035-, 3/64- and 1/16-inch diameters.

Using the Smootharc with the Millermatic 350P can increase travel speeds and provide the ability to run larger diameter wires for all-position aluminum welding-all factors that contribute to greater productivity. With the excellent gap-bridging capabilities of the Smootharc 4043 and 5356 and the pulsed MIG output of the Millermatic 350P, fabricators can minimize labor costs associated with rework due to poor fit-up or spatter, as well as reduce the amount of downtime associated with wire feed problems. Because the Millermatic 350P is also lightweight and features wheels, operators can quickly move it around large weldments, such as trailers.

Miller Electric Mfg. Co. and Hobart Brothers Company are wholly owned subsidiaries of Illinois Tool Works, Inc., Glenview, Ill., a diversified multinational manufacturer of highly engineered components, assemblies and systems.
