MILLER RENEWS ISO 9001:2000 CERTIFICATION
APPLETON, Wis., January 11, 2005- Miller Electric Mfg. Co. successfully passed its annual ISO 9001:2000 registration with zero non-conformance incidents at both its Appleton, Wis. and Troy, Ohio, facilities. This means that the third-party accrediting agency, Quality Management Institute, found that Miller complied with all ISO 9001:2000 requirements.
"Our continuous improvement philosophy means that we work to eliminate root causes of problems in order to provide superior service and products that set the industry standard for reliability," says Jeff Rappold, vice president and general manager of Industrial Products at Miller. "Miller constantly surveys its customers and distributors to better understand their ongoing needs. This is actually part of the ISO process, but it's been a way of doing business here for a long time. In fact, Miller people often hold higher standards than auditors require, which is one reason why we met all requirements."
Miller president Mike Weller adds, "It's one thing to say you go one step further to satisfy customers, but our efforts each year in meeting ISO standards proves that Miller people provide the best quality products and service in the welding industry. I am incredibly proud of them."
The ISO 9001:2000 is a standard for quality management systems regulated by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Standards that Miller met to become ISO 9001:2000 certified include:
* Satisfying and communicating with customers.
* Reviewing customers' product requirements.
* Carrying out design and development reviews.
* Establishing a quality policy and making quality improvements.
* Monitoring, measuring and analyzing quality.
Miller was the first welding equipment manufacturer to register with the original ISO 9000 standard in 1993 and the first to obtain 9001:2000 registration, which it did in January 2002. Miller became an early adopter of the ISO standards because it addresses proof of commitment to meeting customer requirements and achieving customer satisfaction.
