1945-1948: Post-War Years

Business fell off after the war because of oversupply, and could have spelled the end for Miller Electric. Al Mulder patented a small, hand held spot welder unlike anything on the market. Miller sold thousands of the little welders because they offered a very low-cost fabrication method.

Shortly after introducing the spot welder, Miller Electric developed the AEA 200 engine driven welder, the forerunner to today's popular Miller Legend®. Other engine drives on the market were massive and awkward. The AEA 200 had just as much power, but in a much smaller package. Once again, a Miller product had filled a customer need. Business picked up steadily as Miller Electric secured its place in the future of the welding industry.
